NSA, GCHQ, and XKeyscore – missing nothing

    ByDMcA August 3, 2013August 23, 2013

The Guardian in the last month has confirmed more or less everything I wrote back in June on Prism/Boundless intrusion.  It’s true, tthe NSA/GCHQ are seeing everything.   It’s not clear whether today’s revelations show that Snowden is still releasing information after his temporary asylum into Russia or whether it was done before he left…

London Street Photographs with the RX-100

    ByDMcA August 2, 2013

London life from April this year – shot round Soho and Waterloo   No question I am severely behind on this site.  I thought I had published these back in May, but on rootling around, I noticed they were still sitting here in draft form.  So now they get published although they they have been…

Virage vacuum piping – removing the Plenum Chamber

    ByDMcA August 2, 2013January 15, 2014

Another item of interest only to the tiny band of enthusiastic but long-suffering Virage owners I’m afraid.  But good news for them.     Over the last couple of years I have written about G*rr*’s amazing work in repairing the Virage Vacuum piping system – a source of many of the running problems in all…

    Faith restored in French cuisine

    ByDMcA June 20, 2013June 22, 2013

Magnificent eating in Rouen the other night – showing that at least in some quarters the French bedrock of technique and flair still exists….   I’ve mentioned before my sadness at the decline of French bourgeous restaurants – something that was the pride and hallmark of the nation in prior years.  Kitchen quality and technique…

Latest News September 2021

“Still alive and able to get about quite well” is the overall report.  We are all fine, albeit with the usual ups and downs.  The site has been spiffed up a bit, and should be faster and easier to navigate.  I might even put some new content on – see What’s happening? for more info.

On other fronts, I think my photography techniques and images have improved quite a lot  over the last 4 years, and I have discovered a fascination for the technical and technique challenges of photographing birds in flight.  Have a look at mcaughtry.photo to see if you agree.  I have also discovered the delights of artisan coffee, and have built a spiffy state of the art digital audiophile music system, all of which I may write about in the future. So no shortage of things to interest or infuriate me.

But most of all my life has been enriched and inspired by my two beautiful and funny grandchildren, 5 and 2 years old as I write.  Why couldn’t I have been like this when I was their age I ask myself?  I am privileged to know them and my heart skips on each encounter.
