Myanmar – Views of the Treasure

The Chickadee and I did a circuit of Myanmar in late September and October.  I will be releasing batches of shots from this trip – here is the first, from the first place we stayed in,  the Myanmar Inle Treasure

The Myanmar trip was the first I have ever done with a full-on photography intent.  I took my Sony Nex-6 and Nex-5, the 10-18 wide-angle zoom, the new 18-200 tele zoom, the 85mm Sigma prime, and the 30mm Sigma prime.  I also packed loads of filters and my little Sony RX-100.  The Chickadee took over the RX-100 to my delight (more of this later), and we shot pretty much everything we saw.  To the extent of around 6000 frames.  Out of that we got quite a few keepers, and the Chickadee effortlessly took at least 3 exhibition-class shots, and many many other great pictures.  I’ll do a special post just for her stuff, but in the meantime, here are the photos from the first place we stayed in,  the amazing Myanmar Treasure Resort, on the lake at Inle.  In the next post, I’ll describe Inle a bit more.  In the meantime here are your starters.  Viewing info at the end.

Myanmar - Views of the Treasure

To View: If you have Flash the photos are best seen in full screen (press FS in the bottom right hand corner), and in slide show ( press SL).   If you don’t have Flash, i.e if you are using an Apple iPad/Pod/Phone, or a Nexus 7/10 tablet, or any Android tablet running 4.1 +, you can now see them as well.  Just click any of the thumbnails and a full screen slide-show should start. Information on each photo can be seen by clicking on the ‘i’ symbol in the upper right corner of the screen show.

Some Malaysia travel snaps (with a little work from LR3 and Sagelight)

As is my practice now, I only took my little Fuji F900EXR camera with me on our recent trip to Malaysia and Bali.  I continue to be impressed with this tiny but powerful camera, and have recently been exploring what be done with a little further processing.  Over the last 6 months or so, I…

  • Heavy evening surf

Just beyond these rocks is where the Noordhoek surfers go – it was pretty wild the other night – too dangerous for surfing, and too dark.  But I couldn’t help but be impressed by the power of the waves.  Capturing them is always an experiment in time.  A very long exposure (like my favorite 4…

Today’s photo:  Blue and Gold. A long exposure shot taken near Simonstown in the Cape Peninsula, as the rising morning sun illuminated the jagged sandstones of the False Bay coast.  A further by product of my endless (and so far unsuccessful) attempts to capture effectively the sun rising behind the False Bay lighthouse.  These attempts…
