River Pageant – finale video and Final Day flypast phots

The best part of the Pageant was at the end, when the orchestra and singers turned up, and in the pelting rain, belted out ‘Rule Britannia’ and God save the Queen’.  I got a short clip of this, and although a bit wobbly, it really captures the moment I think.

On the last day of the Jubilee weekend there was a flypast of a WW2 Lancaster supported by Spitfires and Hurricanes, plus the Red Arrows aerobatics team.  We watched it again from M*’s roof, and it rained again of course.  I got a couple of shots though, which give a bit of the flavour also (click on the photos to get full-sized views, and press ‘close’ at the bottom to get back to the main screen).  All in all a great weekend.

  • Heavy evening surf

Just beyond these rocks is where the Noordhoek surfers go – it was pretty wild the other night – too dangerous for surfing, and too dark.  But I couldn’t help but be impressed by the power of the waves.  Capturing them is always an experiment in time.  A very long exposure (like my favorite 4…
