River Pageant – finale video and Final Day flypast phots

The best part of the Pageant was at the end, when the orchestra and singers turned up, and in the pelting rain, belted out ‘Rule Britannia’ and God save the Queen’.  I got a short clip of this, and although a bit wobbly, it really captures the moment I think.

On the last day of the Jubilee weekend there was a flypast of a WW2 Lancaster supported by Spitfires and Hurricanes, plus the Red Arrows aerobatics team.  We watched it again from M*’s roof, and it rained again of course.  I got a couple of shots though, which give a bit of the flavour also (click on the photos to get full-sized views, and press ‘close’ at the bottom to get back to the main screen).  All in all a great weekend.

Back again after a longish hiatus (explained below), with shots that capture the emotional scene of Mandela’s funeral, last December in Cape Town.     Apologies for yet another extended and unexplained absence. Today’s photo:Smoke. In between the extended periods of summer rain the English like to take their kit off, and lie sparko in the parko having a nice smoke.
