About

mcaughtry.com is a personal writing site, established in 2001. The writing is mostly about music, travel, and things that struck me as worth recording. Some of it is funny. Some of it is about France.

The site has been going long enough that it contains work from several different periods of life, and reflects correspondingly different preoccupations. The earlier material tends toward drollery and concert-going; the more recent toward travel. There is no particular plan. Posts appear when something is worth saying and not before.

A separate section of this domain — Virage Corner — is an entirely different thing: a comprehensive technical resource for owners of the 1989 Aston Martin Virage V8. It gets considerably more traffic than the writing and requires no introduction to the people who need it.

Photography, which used to live here, has moved to mcaughtry.photo.

I am based in London. I have opinions about coffee, jazz, and the correct way to approach a seven-hour Wagner performance. Some of these opinions have been committed to print.
