Olympics Stadium and Mr Bolt – Photos

A wonderful morning at the Olympic Stadium on Tuesday.  I went just to soak up the atmosphere and to see what the stadium looked like, but I also caught Mr Bolt imperiously winning his 200m heat.  Magnificent!

I started the Olympics, like many Londoners, a grumpy non-believer, but the opening ceremony and the actual good planning of the events and facilities, and the success and usability of the transportation system converted me.  Not that the GB medals didn’t help.  So I was delighted when a ticket for the athletics came up.  It was just a brilliant day.  Even having hundreds of Olympic helpers being nice to me in the street didn’t affect my mood.  I took along my little Canon SX220, and it performed really well.  This thing continues to surprise me – even using JPGs instead of RAW to get faster writing times did not seem to affect the photo quality.  No question it would have been better with the Nikon, but my day would have been worse having to lug the thing around.  As ever, the photos are best seen in full screen (press FS in the bottom right hand corner), and in slide show ( press SL).  Info on many of the photos is available by pressing the ‘i’ in the top right hand corner (and press ‘i’ again to get rid of it).

See what you think……
